A Very Special Feast Day

Today, July 26th, is a double feast day! Today we remember Saint Anne and Saint Joachim, Mary's parents.

Click here to download this picture of Mary and her parents and you can colour it.

There is a church in Jerusalem that is built over what tradition says is the site of the home of St. Joachim and St. Anne and the birthplace of Mary. Not surprisingly it is called the Church of Saint Anne!

This beautiful statute of Anne and Mary is inside the church. Our master took this photo when she was in Israel in March.

Hey there is our granny in the orange shirt!! That's kinda neat Cloë our granny is at the site of where Jesus's granny lived!

Did you know Tallulah that there is a giant church in Canada that honours Saint Anne?

No I don't think I did. Where is it?

It's called Sainte-Anne-de-Beaupré and it is just past Quebec City.

Click here to see pictures of this amazing church and to take a virtual tour.

Don't forget to call your grandparents today and tell them how much you love and appreciate them!

Woof!

The Feast of Saint James

Today, July 25th, is the feast day of Saint James the Apostle.

Isn't James the brother of John, one of Jesus' other apostles?

He sure was Tallulah! And like some of the other apostles, James was a fisherman.

Now I remember, this is when Jesus said one of his most famous lines, that He would make them fishers of men if they followed him.

I'm very pleased with how much you have learned during the last year Tallulah.

Thank you Cloë. As you know I will turn 4 on Monday, so I think my brain is getting bigger!

Go to Catholic Icing to find all kinds of neat fish crafts. I especially like the ones that use glitter!

We also found a page full of fish games and colouring pages and more crafts! Check it out.

Have fun! Woof!

The First to Spread the Good News

Hi Everybody!

Our master has not been well so that 's why we have not blogged lately.

Cloë I think one of us needs to learn to type!

You are probably right Tallulah, but do you know how to spell?!

Of course not, I'm only 3, well nearly 4. My birthday is in 6 days you know!

Today, July 22nd, is the feast day of St. Mary Magdalene. Do you know who she is?

I sure do! She is the very first person who saw Jesus after he rose from the dead!

Very good Tallulah. Here is a picture of Mary and Jesus that you can colour. You can either print it and colour it or you can colour it on the computer and them print it!

Sometimes people think that the Church believes that only the boys are important! But Mary Magdalene is proof that Jesus thought the girls were just as important.

Yeah!!! you and I are both girls so I bet Jesus thinks we are important too.

I'm sure He does Tallulah. But what is it about this story that tells us that Mary's role was an important one?

Well because she was the very first one to see the Resurrected Jesus! Plus she got to go and tell the apostles, even Peter and John.

Very good Tallulah. Fr. Kevin will be pleased to hear that you have been listening at Mass.

I like listening to him, he is very interesting.

Well that's it for today. Woof!

Two Apostles Two Saints

Yesterday, July 3rd, was the feast day of St. Thomas, one of Jesus' great apostles. We talked about him quite a lot last year.

Click here to check out last year's post.

Here is a video of the most famous scene with Thomas.

Tradition says that Thomas was the apostle to bring the good news to India. Watch this video to learn more.

In today's Gospel, we meet the apostle Matthew for the first time.

As Jesus was walking along, he saw a man called Matthew sitting at the tax booth; and he said to him, “Follow me.” And he got up and followed him. (Matthew 9:9)

Wow Cloë, he did not have to go for a job interview or anything. I wonder if maybe that's why so many people don't know that Jesus is also calling them - Jesus asks in such a simple way that they don't realize He is calling them?!

I think you are probably right Tallulah!

After Jesus called Matthew to follow him, He went to Matthew's home. Can you help Jesus find Matthew's house.

Parents, at this same link you will find the full reading of this Gospel as well as questions and activities to help you explore it more fully with your children.

Have a good weekend everyone and be sure to keep your ears open in case Jesus wants you to do something really simple for Him! Woof!

Happy Canada Day!

We want to wish everybody a super Canada Day!

This morning we went to Mass and some very Canadian girls came to see us afterwards.

On our walk home our master made us pose in front of this sign. We are definitely Canadian, but we were hot and just wanted to go chase a squirrel!

Finally, here is a nice prayer that you might want to pray today. . .

and maybe everyday Cloë!

O Lord, send down your blessings upon Canada
and its people (and its animals),
that our voices may always sound your praise.
Through Christ our Lord.
Amen.

Woof!
