The Prophets

During Lent we hear from many of the Old Testament prophets. We thought it would be interesting to look at who some of these people were.

Cloë what is a prophet?

A prophet is a person that God spoke to who then delivered God's message to the people. There are the Major Prophets and the Minor Prophets. Before you ask Tallulah the Major Prophets wrote the long books and the Minor Prophets wrote the short books!

One of the most famous prophets was Moses.

I remember him, we talked quite a bit about him. Isn't he the guy who received the Ten Commandments?

Exactly Tallulah. Today we thought we would talk about Ezekiel since the first reading is by him.

Ezekiel was a prophet who lived more than 500 years before Jesus was born. His name means "God strengthens". In today's story he tells the people that God wants everyone to be good and to turn away from sin. He also tells them that this is what would make God happy.

Here is a short video about the life of Ezekiel.

On Monday we will talk about Daniel.

Have a good weekend! Woof!

Tallulah is Back!

Hi Everybody!

Well I'm pleased to report that Tallualh is back! And we went for a lovely walk yesterday at Guindon Park.

I sure am Cloë and I am feeling much more like myself. I had to spend 2 days in the hospital, which is like 2 weeks in dog! And I had to have a bunch of blood tests.

I thought a lot about Alex during my time there. I can't imagine how he did it since I know he was in the hospital way longer than me and had way more tests and needles than me! I am impressed by him even more!

This is Alex with the Montreal Canadiens' and Olympic gold medallist P.K. Subban.

Hey I didn't get to meet anyone famous!

Tallulah you were in the hospital for only two days!

I guess you are right. But I have been diagnosed with something called Addison's Disease and it's quite uncommon. Something about my adrenal glands not producing the hormone that they are supposed to.

Yes you have Tallulah, but you are lucky enough that with medication you should be just fine and live a long life - thank God!

Thank God indeed! Woof!

Prayer - Fasting - Almsgiving

Hi Everybody!

It's day 3 of Lent - how is it going?

Remember on Ash Wednesday I talked about the 3 main things we do during Lent: prayer, fasting and almsgiving.

Well today in our inbox we received an email from Lacy at Catholic Icing.

She has come up with a great way to help you remember these three things.

As you can see I'm still by myself writing this blog. Tallulah is still in the hospital but I'm hoping she will come home today. They are finishing up the tests to see what is making her so tired. Please ask St. Francis of Assisi to ask God to make her well.

See ya soon - woof!

Ash Wednesday

So I'm on my own today because poor Tallulah is at the hospital. She has not been feeling well for a few days so our master took her to the vet's and he decided to keep her over night. She is always annoying me by chewing on the fur around my neck but I already miss her!

So today is Ash Wednesday

and that means it's the first day of Lent!

Lent is 40 days long (Sundays don't count!)

It's a time to get ready for the big celebration of Easter!

There are 3 main things we should all be doing during Lent to help us  get ready for Easter.

The first is to spend more time with God by praying.

The second is fasting which is a fancy way of saying that you stop doing something (like watching TV, eating candy, playing x-box) as a way to better understand people who are not lucky enough to have everything you do.

The third is giving to charity this could be money or your time.

Lacy over at Catholic Icing has many great ideas for doing all three of these things. Be sure to check them out.

And finally, here is a picture of our "uncle" Father Timothy on Ash Wednesday last year in Israel.

Talk to you soon. Woof!

Valentine's Day is Coming!

Hi Everybody!

It sure is cold outside - we are having trouble motivating ourselves to do much

But the thought of food for Valentine's Day is helping :)

So Valentine's Day is this Saturday and we thought we would share a few good ideas that we have found.

These cupcakes are my faves!

Jennifer at Catholic Inspired created these cupcake toppers for St. Valentine's Day. Click here to print them off. Then cut them out and tape a toothpick to the back. Then stick them into a cupcake for a fun easy display and treat!

Lacy at Catholic Icing has all kinds of great ideas including Valentine cards you can print and give to your Valentines.

Don't forget that Saint Valentine was a real person who lived thousands of years ago. Here are two short videos that tell his story.

Have fun getting ready for Saint Valentine's, I know we will! Woof!
