It's Our Feast Day Today!

Hi Everybody,

We are so excited because today is the Feast Day of St. Francis de Sales!

He is the patron saint of the parish that we go to with our master. In honour of the day, our new priest had a very special mass.

So Tallulah, what can you tell our readers about St. Francis de Sales?

  • Well I know he was born in France in 1567 in a castle.
  • He was from a very rich family.
  • He was very smart and he became a lawyer.
Very good Tallulah. But one of the most important things to know about Francis is that he had a very special relationship with God. He believed very much that God wanted him to be a priest, which he became when he was 26.

During this time, there were a lot of problems in the Church and many Catholics decided to leave to create their own religion. They became known as Protestants.

Hey Cloë, I bet Francis decided to go and help - right?!

Yup, he and his cousin went to the area where the biggest problems were. His father was very worried about him, but Francis knew that God would protect him. Francis explained the Catholic faith in very simple and clear language to the people and this really helped. He also tried to work with children whenever he could.

Hey those sound like the kinds of things we are trying to do with our blog.

You are right Tallulah. And do you know what else? St. Francis de Sales is the patron saint of journalists and writers.

Before we leave you for today, we want to ask you to pray for a friend of ours who is having a 7 hour surgery today! He owns the farm where we love to go!

Hey that's where my friend Princesse lives. It is her owner, M. Ouimet, that we are praying for!

God, please bless M. Ouimet! Woof! Cloë and Tallulah
