Jesus Makes the Blind Man See

While Jesus was on earth he performed a number of miracles. This Sunday...

Wait, wait! let me tell them Cloë. This Sunday we here the story of Jesus curing the man who could not see.

Very good Tallulah. Here is a short recap of the story.

Here are some fun games from Sermons4Kids to help you remember the story.

Today we challenge you to find some of the miracles that God has performed in your life. They may not be as WOW as giving you your sight, but we bet if you look you can find quite a few. Write and tell us about some of them.

Neat Things

Hi Everybody!

Today we wanted to tell you about two neat emails we received today.

The first is about our friend Alex. As you know he was diagnosed with cancer last summer. The cancer is gone. But because he is a kid, the doctors said it is important that he still get treatment to make sure the cancer is really, really gone!

The magazine Ottawa Life has written a story about Alex and a special buddy of his named Alistair, click here to read it.

Alex is very brave Cloë. I don't like going to the vet. And we only have to do that once a year for our check up.

I agree with you Tallulah, I like our vet, but not when he has those big needles.

The second neat email was from Catholic Icing's Lacy. Her latest craft, is another craft to help people understand that Jesus is in the bread at communion.

This really is neat Cloë. I agree that this is a difficult thing to get, especially since the bread looks exactly the same both before and after the consecration. But this craft helped me to better understand!

Visit Catholic Icing for instructions for making this neat craft.

Well that's it for today! Woof!

Mary's Going to Have a Baby!

Today, March 25th, we celebrate the Annunciation of the Lord!

What does that mean Cloë?

This is the day that the Angel Gabriel was sent to tell Mary that she would become Jesus' mommy.

Wow that must have been exciting for her. But maybe a little scary too.

I imagine it must have been Tallulah. Mary would have only been a teenager at the time. But despite all this she said yes when God asked!

To celebrate this day we have a short video, a song and a craft for you! Enjoy.

Here are some photos of the Shrine Basilica of the Annunciation that our master took when she was in Nazareth. She and her fellow pilgrims got to celebrate Mass at this church.

If you would like to see and know more about this basilica watch this youtube video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2nalqpqQeeE

Cloë why don't we finish our blog today with the Hail Mary.

A Busy Weekend

Wow Cloë we've sure had a busy weekend! On Friday we went for our spa day.

We always look and smell nice when we are done, but I'm not too crazy about that gigantic blow dryer Gina has!

On Saturday, we got to see our friend Alex. It's been so long I was not sure he would recognize us.

But he did Tallulah. He is about to start the last big chunk of treatment. It sounds like it is going to be very tough, but there is no sign of the cancer so we are really happy for him.

And on Sunday we went to Mass.

Did you hear that dog that was in the church Cloë? How come we have to wait outside and that dog doesn't?!

Well Tallulah, that dog is a puppy that is learning to be a guide dog.

What's that?!

That is a dog that is trained to help someone who might be blind, or in a wheelchair, or has autism. A guide dog goes everywhere its master does, including into stores, restaurants and churches. So the dog has to learn to be calm and quiet.

Gee I don't know if I could do that Cloë. I just love socializing and meeting all kinds of people. I guess that is why we have to wait outside the church, right Cloë?!

I think you've got it Tallulah. But we have a good time once our master comes out.

Hey Cloë I think your missing face is up in that picture with Alex - hee! hee!

We hope you all had a good weekend too!

Third Sunday of Lent - The Woman at the Well

This Sunday''s Gospel is the story of Jesus and the woman from Samaria that he meets at the well.

In this story, Jesus teaches us that every person is important, no matter who they are, where they are from or what they have or have not done.

Hey that sounds like you and me Cloë. I know I certainly love everyone and am always trying to say hi to people and give them a kiss.

You are right Tallulah, we dogs do try to love everyone. But for some reason humans sometimes have a tougher time with this. So that is why Jesus is an example to them in this story.

In Jesus' time, a Jewish man could not be alone speaking to a woman. In addition, the Jews and Samaritans did not get along at all. And this particular woman wasn't even liked by her own community. But Jesus did not care about all that, He just wanted to let her know about His Father and the Good News that God loves everyone and wants to be friends with everyone.

Wow! I bet she was excited to know that.

She was indeed Tallulah, in fact she went back to her community to share the Good News.

Bottom line: No one is unimportant to God, He loves everyone!

Feast of Saint Joseph + Happy B-Day to our Bishop

Today March 19th is a very exciting day, there is just so much happening!

First, we remember Saint Joseph in a very special way.
I know who Saint Joseph is Cloë. He is Jesus' dad here on earth!

That's right Tallulah. We don't know a lot about Joseph. We do know that he took his role of protecting Mary and Jesus very seriously. He protected them on the trip to Bethlehem.

And when the evil Herod was looking for Jesus, Joseph took Mary and Jesus to Egypt to keep them safe.

We know that he was a carpenter and that he taught Jesus how to be a carpenter.

Hey Cloë, I found this great video of the Christmas story, the main story in the Bible that involves Joseph.

Joseph is also the special patron saint of many, including the whole of the Catholic Church, fathers and even Canada.

Cloë, did you remember that today is also our Bishop's birthday!

I did Tallulah. In fact, to celebrate, he is presiding at a special mass in honour of Saint Joseph at Saint Joseph's Oratory.

Happy Birthday Bishop Marcel! Woof! and doggie kisses!

Sunday's Gospel - The Transfiguration

Hi Everybody!

Today we want to talk about this past Sunday's Gospel. It was the account of the Transfiguration.

Wait a minute Cloë you are using too many big words again!! What does Transfiguration mean? And does it have something to do with money since you are calling it an account?

The word "account" is another way of saying the "story".

As for the word "Transfiguration", it means to change form or appearance. An example would be a caterpillar who transforms into a butterfly.

In this Gospel, Jesus appears all white and glowing to 3 of his apostles. Although the apostles knew there was something special about Jesus, God lets them know for sure during this event. Watch this video account.

Can you name the 3 apostles that saw Jesus being transfigured?

Whose voice do we hear from the clouds?

When our master was in Israel, she went up the mountain where it is believed the Transfiguration happened. It is called Mount Tabor. Here is a picture of both the mountain and a view from the top.

Today the Church of the Transfiguration stands on the spot.

These are pictures that are in the church.
