Sunday's Gospel - The Transfiguration

Hi Everybody!

Today we want to talk about this past Sunday's Gospel. It was the account of the Transfiguration.

Wait a minute Cloë you are using too many big words again!! What does Transfiguration mean? And does it have something to do with money since you are calling it an account?

The word "account" is another way of saying the "story".

As for the word "Transfiguration", it means to change form or appearance. An example would be a caterpillar who transforms into a butterfly.

In this Gospel, Jesus appears all white and glowing to 3 of his apostles. Although the apostles knew there was something special about Jesus, God lets them know for sure during this event. Watch this video account.

Can you name the 3 apostles that saw Jesus being transfigured?

Whose voice do we hear from the clouds?

When our master was in Israel, she went up the mountain where it is believed the Transfiguration happened. It is called Mount Tabor. Here is a picture of both the mountain and a view from the top.

Today the Church of the Transfiguration stands on the spot.

These are pictures that are in the church.
