Advent - Day 6

Today we have two Advent projects for you!

I gotta say Cloë, I'm quite enjoying this whole Advent season, there are so many neat things to do and I'm learning so much and it makes me want to kick up my heels!

I'm glad to hear that Tallulah, that is the whole idea.

So our first project is one we talked about last year: The Jesse Tree. It's a less common tradition than things like an Advent wreath and calendar. But it's fascinating.

Wait a minute I remember this from last year. The Jesse Tree tells us about Jesus' family tree.

Exactly Tallulah. When we understand the people and stories from the Old Testament

it helps us understand Jesus and the New Testament.

If you want to make your own Jesse Tree we found the pattern on the website of the Diocese of Erie, Pennsylvania.

We also found a book for families on Amazon called Unwrapping the Greatest Gift: A Family Celebration of Christmas. Each day, families can read the provided Scripture passage to help children of all ages understand the Advent theme for the day, and participate in suggested activities to apply the theme.

Our second activity is to do something special for St Nicholas Day which is celebrated on December 6th! Check out the St. Nicholas Centre for ideas. Tomorrow we'll talk more about who St. Nicholas was.

So much to do Cloë, let's go get started! Woof!
